چکیده

Background: Internal Limiting Membrane (ILM) peeling with Gas tamponade after Pars Plana vitrectomy is routinely done in macular hole surgery. After the procedure, a face-down position (FDP) advised to patients promote closure by pushing bubble of against posterior pole. However, elderly and those medical comorbidities may feel uncomfortable FDP. A few post-operative complications also be caused it. So, aim this study compare evaluate role postoperative non-face-down (nFDP) FDP on rate PPV ILM peeling. Patients methods: 20 phakic eyes patients, idiopathic full-thickness holes, underwent vitrectomy, dye-assisted 14% perfluoro propane gas. were divided randomly into two groups; face down (FDP, posturing group) or non (nFDP, non-posturing for 7 days. Main focus was see anatomical till days postoperatively. Results: Macular holes closed 10 group 9 out seven Chi-square test applied association between / without position. It observed that less likely associated (X2= 1.2, p-value= 0.549) while it size 15.9, 0.001). In sub-group analysis according size, all smaller than 490 µm regardless posturing. While larger not nFDP Conclusion: Post-operative has no statistically significant effect comparison non-face positioning. Keywords: (MH), Face (FDP), Posturing, Closure rate, Randomized controlled Trials (RCTs)

Macular Hole Surgery in a Patient Who Cannot Maintain Facedown Positioning

AIM To present macular hole surgery in a patient who had previously undergone thyroid removal surgery. MATERIAL AND METHODS During thyroid gland removal surgery, the recurrent laryngeal nerves were cut by the surgeon. Therefore, the patient had to have a tracheotomy and because of this unusual situation, the patient could not breathe if lying 'upside-down'. Complete ophthalmic examination and...

Individualized, spectral domain-optical coherence tomography-guided facedown posturing after macular hole surgery: minimizing treatment burden and maximizing outcome.

PURPOSE To evaluate the individualized, optical coherence tomography-guided facedown posturing after macular hole (MH) surgery in minimizing the burden and maximizing outcome. METHODS A retrospective comparative study. One hundred and seven consecutive eyes with an MH (<500 μm) received vitrectomy and gas tamponade. After surgery, optical coherence tomography examination was performed from 6 ...

Efficacy of autologous platelets in macular hole surgery

The introduction of optical coherence tomography has allowed accurate measurement of the size of macular holes. A retrospective consecutive review was performed of 21 patients undergoing macular hole repair with vitrectomy, gas tamponade, and autologous platelet injection and we assessed the effect of macular hole parameters on anatomic and functional outcomes. We looked at the demographic feat...
